Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We are here to answer

Does the XEV 9e need a headlight upgrade like older Mahindra models?

Not typically. As a newer-generation EV, the XEV 9e is expected to come with factory LED headlights as standard, unlike older petrol or diesel models that often shipped with halogen bulbs. Most XEV 9e owners won't need the kind of headlight bulb replacement that's common on older vehicles. If you're still considering an upgrade for auxiliary lighting or fog lamps, check your exact trim's fitment first, since factory-integrated LED systems are generally not designed for simple bulb swaps.

Can I install aftermarket accessories without affecting the XEV 9e's warranty?

This depends on how the accessory is installed and which part of the vehicle it connects to. Accessories that plug into a standard 12V socket, such as a dashcam or phone charger, generally don't involve any modification to the vehicle's wiring. Anything requiring hardwiring into the electrical system should ideally be done by a qualified installer, and it's worth checking Mahindra's warranty terms for EV-specific components before making any permanent modification.

Is it safe to hardwire a dashcam into the XEV 9e?

Dashcams can generally be hardwired into EVs, but the process may differ from a conventional vehicle because of how EVs manage power to always-on versus ignition-linked circuits. It's safer to have the installation done by someone familiar with EV electrical systems, or to use a dashcam that runs off a standard accessory socket instead of a permanent wiring connection.

Will a universal reverse camera work with the XEV 9e's factory display?

This depends on the type of video input your XEV 9e's infotainment screen supports. Since electric vehicles sometimes use more integrated or proprietary display systems compared to conventional cars, a universal aftermarket camera may not always connect directly. Check your factory display's supported input type before adding another camera.

Do EVs like the XEV 9e need fog lamps, or are they mainly for styling?

Fog lamps serve a genuine visibility purpose in low-light conditions such as heavy rain, mist or dust, regardless of whether the vehicle is electric or fuel-powered. If your XEV 9e variant includes a fog lamp housing, upgrading to a projector-style unit with adjustable colour temperature can help in these specific conditions. Always check your fog lamp housing size and wiring setup, since fitment can vary based on trim.

Can I charge my phone and other devices while the XEV 9e is charging its battery?

This depends on how the vehicle's 12V accessory circuit is powered during charging. Some EVs keep accessory sockets active while charging, and others may not, depending on the vehicle's settings. If you're unsure whether your phone charger will work while the car itself is charging, it's best to check the XEV 9e's owner manual or confirm with an authorised Mahindra service centre.

Are the car chargers sold by Audio Wheels compatible with the XEV 9e's charging port?

No. The chargers in our catalogue are small USB adapters designed to charge phones and similar devices through your car's 12V accessory socket. They have no connection to the high-voltage charging equipment used to charge the XEV 9e's actual battery, which is a completely separate system provided through Mahindra's EV charging infrastructure.
